The Power of the Cross

What a powerful weekend we have just come off of.  Our first ever Outdoor Passion Play was a great success!  We were able to minister to hundreds as they drove through this ongoing live performance with over 60 actors.  Acworth Church folks are the greatest!  You’ve just got to love them.

Easter Sunday was tremendous too with one of our largest crowds ever!  The Children’s Ministries program was awesome, with the black lights and white gloves.  Dave Dawson did a fantastic job with his monologue rendition of the life of Simon Peter.

But what was it all about?  What was the power behind it all?  I am convinced it was the Power of the Cross.  It’s still the cross that points in the right direction.  The cross is the level ground that we all must get too.  The cross still has the power to convict a lost world, and lead us back to the Father.

Without the cross there would be no resurrection.  Without the cross, there would be no salvation.  Without the cross, there would be no healing.  Without the cross, where would you and I be?

I’m reminded of the old song, “At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light, and the burden of my heart was rolled away.  It was there, by faith, I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:2, “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”  With Christ’s crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection, where would we be?  And His cross invites me to a life of sacrificial love.  To give of myself, rather than taking all the time.

His cross, shows me the great love the Father has for me.  He gave up His own Son’s life, so that my could be spared.  Oh, the love of the Father, and it all came through the cross.

And now, he calls us to come and do the same…to lay down your life for Christ and others.  It’s not all about us anymore, you know.  It’s about laying down our lives, and giving up our desires for His desire.  And it was this same Paul who said, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

That’s the Power of the Cross.  A life laid down, so His life can be raised up.  Have you found the Power of the Cross in your life yet?

WNF meets RTM

Today, Wednesday Night Fury met Red Top Mountain. Fiase and Adonis came out to experience the great outdoors. While we were walking the Sweet Gum Trail, we stopped twice for mini-devotions. photo_030709_006The quiet sounds of the wind and woods made for perfect opportunities to be still, and know that He is God, as the Bible says. In fact, at one point in the trail we stopped by Lake Allatoona and I challenged everyone to sit still and completely silent with their eyes closed for five minutes straight. We took in the still atmosphere and reflected on how amazing our God is. At the end of the very-long five minutes, each of us shared how much we can become distracted with things of this world if we are not careful to slow down once in a while. I challenged the group to find another five minutes daily to practice solitude like that, remembering that God asks for our attention daily.

All in all, we had an amazing time learning and getting worn out from races up leaf-covered hills and across fallen down logs. The only improvement this day could of had would be if Adonis could have actually fit inside of this hollowed-out tree long enough to snap a picture! Thanks to Jordan for coming out and making us all laugh about Power-rangers and Sasquatch conversations!

Progress, sweet progress!

God is really doing some amazing things in the world of Project Inflow. We have a new face every week it seems. We have old friends back in the mix, and new and upcoming believers bringing a freshness to the group. What can we as a group do to make an impact on our age group and world? Glad you asked haha. God has given you a very simple mission. Take what you have learned and give that same knowledge to your friends, co-workers and family. Hey, you can even talk to anyone you meet. Praying for you guys and girls as we look past the fact of seeing thepinflow grow for numbers, but yet see an amazing opportunity for others to be added to our ranks as our group strengthens in our mission for Him.

In MUCH prayer!
